My 1st degree Usui Shiki Reiki Ryoho workshop includes the following:

* Four 1st degree attunements (see discussion of attunements below...)
* The history and origins of Reiki
* Discussion of the Reiki precepts and ways to use Reiki
* Introduction to several traditional Reiki practices
* Instruction in hand positions for the self and others
* Ample practice time, one-on-one and in a group
* Guided meditations and bio-energy field sensing exercises
* Grounding, centering and protection exercises
* Introduction to the chakra & endocrine systems
* Chakra toning exercise
* A detailed study manual

 

Reiki differs from other healing techniques because of the attunement process. This involves the transfer of the ability to channel Reiki energy from the Reiki Master to the initiate. The attunement process awakens and activates one to the universal life force energy that is in and of all things. When we attune to something, we become one with it. Through an affinity of sympathetic vibrations, we begin to resonate with the knowledge we wish to obtain. Initiation is a sacred ceremony - a connnection with the Divine within and surrounding us - an empowerment...

The 1st attunement opens the student's heart chakra. A new (or deeper) sense of compassion, understanding and awareness of his/her connection to all living beings may arise.

The 2nd attunement opens the throat chakra. This often brings forth a clearing with regard to communication, creativity and career issues.

The 3rd attunement opens the brow/'third eye' chakra. This may result in heightened intuition or a developing trust in that ever present inner voice that tugs us in certain directions.

The 4th attunement opens the crown chakra, the energy center which connects us to All That Is/the spiritual realm, with universal truth. This final attunement 'seals open' the channel which allows one to receive the frequency of energy known as Reiki.
