Ketosis Symptoms: What Should You Expect?

Ketosis is a state that people seem to be striving for in the fitness community these days. How can you tell when you’re in ketosis? What are the ketosis symptoms you should expect when you get there?

Ketosis symptoms

You’ve likely heard of the ketogenic diet. Maybe you even know someone that has tried it. And right now, the keto diet is the “it” diet. Celebrities rave about it. Many individuals are utilizing it.

But what is happening on a physiological level? And what does ‘ketosis’ actually mean?

Very simply, the keto diet puts your body into a state of ketosis. The diet consists of a high-fat and protein diet with a very low carbohydrate intake. In a state of ketosis, instead of using glucose (carbohydrates) for fuel, your body uses ketone bodies, which means your body is in a catabolic state.

With a lack of glucose, stored fat is broken down by the body into fatty acids. The liver then uses these fatty acids to make ketones – which the body then uses for energy.

How can you tell if your body is using ketones for fuel? Various ketosis symptoms arise indicating whether or not you are in ketosis. Let’s take a closer look:

A Brief History of the Ketogenic Diet

The ketogenic diet came about as a way to treat children suffering from epilepsy. It offered a treatment method – other than expensive and potentially harmful medication – to help control their seizures. It also proved to be a cheaper option for families. Thus, doctors began recommending it.

Then, it hit the mainstream. Individuals started using it as a way to lose weight. And it works. Various studies have proven this. For instance, a 2013 study concluded that one of the major ketosis symptoms – and possibly benefits – is weight loss. And it further noted an improvement in participants’ cholesterol levels, blood pressure measurements, and glucose and insulin levels.

But wait. You’re probably thinking that sounds great. And it is a great weight loss method, as well as an excellent way to improve your body composition and overall health. However, various cautions – specifically using the diet in the long-term – do exist. It’s crucial that you understand the risks and do it properly so that you don’t experience any negative effects. Keep on reading to find out more!

Ketosis Symptoms: How You Know You’re in Ketosis

Before we dive into the long-term effects, let’s take a look at the basic ketosis symptoms.

You’ve started the keto diet. You’ve been eating high-fat, moderate protein foods, such as beef, pork, coconut oil, nuts, and more. How do you know you’re in ketosis?

The following ketosis symptoms may arise and can help you tell whether you’re in ketosis or not:

  • You have bad breath. Acetone is a byproduct of ketosis and it leaves the body through your breath and urine. Consequently, it creates a less than ideal smell! Yet, regular teeth brushing can help! And you can use this as a sign as to whether you are in ketosis or not.
  • You’ve lost weight. As mentioned before, weight loss is a key ketosis symptom – especially for those who are overweight. However, even if you aren’t overweight, you may experience initial weight loss due to water loss and fat loss.
  • You have a decreased appetite. More studies are needed to explore this ketosis symptom further. But past research shows a link between appetite suppression and ketosis (which, again, is great for weight loss and healthy weight maintenance).
  • You feel fatigued – at least at first. As your body switches over into a ketosis state, you may feel weak and tired. Once this initial fatigue passes and your body adapts, you may experience an increase in concentration and energy. Your focus and memory may even improve!
  • You have increased ketones in your blood. Various at-home kits exist that allow you to measure your ketone levels. You can also measure your ketones via your breath or your urine.
  • You experience increased thirst. Due to water loss, dehydration is a serious side effect of the keto diet. For anyone on the keto diet, it’s important to drink water consistently throughout the day. Don’t let yourself get to the point where physical issues arise from dehydration.
  • You may experience digestive or stomach issues. This has to do with your body adapting to a new energy source. Thankfully, many people report this easing off over time.
  • It may impact your sleep. Some research shows that initially you may have issues sleeping. Yet, other studies showed improvements in individual’s sleep. Overall, you may notice a change in your regular sleeping patterns.

The Long-Term Effects of Ketosis

So what happens when the body stays in a ketosis state? What are the long-term ketosis symptoms?

Research indicates positive short-term effects with a ketogenic diet. Studies also show that a ketogenic diet in the long-term promotes an ideal body composition and a favourable body mass.

However, long-term adverse effects exist as well. Long-term consequences can include liver complications, low protein levels in the blood, kidney stones, and nutritional deficiencies.

There’s been varying evidence regarding liver complications. For instance, one study showed one participant to have liver issues after going on the keto diet. Yet, it may depend on the person’s condition before going on the diet. Some individuals may be more prone to complications with the liver. More research is needed on this ketosis symptom.

One very common long-term ketosis symptom involves nutritional deficiencies. The diet limits the types of food you can eat. As such, you must get certain vitamins and minerals via other foods. If you plan on going on the ketogenic diet, it’s important to be aware of what sources of food you need to eat to get all the nutrients your body needs. Kidney issues, like kidney stones, may happen as well. And there has been varying evidence indicating the body’s use of muscle mass as energy when glucose is not present. Yet, this shouldn’t occur if you are properly fuelling your body via the correct nutrients.

The keto diet has further been associated with higher levels of LDL, or ‘bad,’ cholesterol. This is primarily due to the high saturation fat content in a keto diet. In turn, it may promote heart disease and other cardiovascular issues. Again, monitoring your diet can help lesson this effect.

Lastly, a person may experience serious mood swings. The brain functions best on glucose. And a low-carb diet may cause severe ups and downs. If you’re prone to mental health issues, it’s likely best to avoid this type of diet or ensure you are monitoring it very closely.

But there are ways you can limit the long-term effects. For instance, you can monitor your nutritional intake to ensure you are getting all the nutrients you need. You can book an appointment with your doctor before switching your diet to make sure that you aren’t at a serious risk of any ill health effects. These long-term effects aren’t the end all, be all. There’s been many celebrities and individuals who have been on the ketogenic diet for years – with no negative repercussions.

So Should Your or Shouldn’t You?

Many experts agree that the keto diet has numerous benefits. The weight loss benefit is the #1 reason many people go on it. In turn, maintaining a healthy weight may reduce your chances of heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and more.

Yet before you venture on any major diet change, it’s important to check with your doctor. They can discuss your options with you. And they can further determine if the ketogenic diet is right for you and your health. It could potentially be the answer you’ve been looking for!

Leaky Gut Shopping List For Full Body Healing

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to hear that your diet is the main reason that you do (or do not) have leaky gut syndrome. So, if you would like to improve your gut health or heal your bowel disorder, a leaky gut shopping list can help you ensure that the food on your plate and in your belly heals you rather than hinders you.

leaky gut shopping list

Our gut health is directly related to the overall health of our bodies. If we do not have a healthy gut, it can make us feel tired all the time, we can get skin conditions like acne and psoriasis, allergies, and we can even become depressed and anxious. Leaky gut syndrome has a wide array of symptoms – some are quite surprising. Check out our article on leaky gut symptoms to find out more.

Why We Created The Leaky Gut Shopping List

Imagine being housebound for over 10 months, losing 20 kilos in weight, bleeding from the back side 15 times a day, then being told by your ‘trusted’ doctor that you may need to face having your entire colon removed with a permanent colostomy bag if this new untested drug fails to work.

This is the horror Niraj Naik, The Renegade Pharmacist himself, was faced with back in 2010.

Working as an actual pharmacist in the UK, Niraj wanted to help his community heal, but he soon realised that the pharmaceutical industry had other ideas: profit, profit, profit!

Niraj took matters into his own hands. He knew that more could be done to return to full health without any drugs or surgery. Read about how he did it here.

This lead Niraj to become The Renegade Pharmacist. He also created this Leaky Gut Shopping List for patients just like him who want to restore their health fully. It was also the catalyst for his highly successful Leaky Gut Protocol.

Foods To Avoid

There are certain foods that create an imbalance of gut flora. This can have some serious implications for our health. These foods should be eliminated totally for at least 30 days, and then avoided most of the time.

Find out which foods you should eliminate from your diet by following our free Leaky Gut Protocol.

You will probably notice that you feel significantly better after 30 days without these foods in your diet. Ask yourself if you really want to reintroduce them or if you can live without them (after all, you’ve made it 30 days!).

Foods To Eat In Abundance

Eating a diverse range of foods is the best way to keep your gut healthy and thriving. Our Leaky Gut Shopping List has an extensive list of foods you can enjoy in total abundance. There are so many flavours, colours, and textures to enjoy on this shopping list! Plus you can create endless recipes with all of the options.

Food Depends On You

Everyone is unique. Every body is individual and will respond differently to certain foods and food groups. Our Leaky Gut Shopping List is not a one-size-fits-all approach. You should listen to your body and decide if and when you eat these foods. We advise removing these foods from your diet for 15-30 days before reintroducing slowly. Then feel how your body responds.

Reverse Insulin Resistance – A Step-by-Step Guide

Did you know that diabetes and insulin resistance are totally preventable and that it is possible to reverse insulin resistance?

reverse insulin resistance

What Is Insulin?

Firstly, if you want to understand how to reverse insulin resistance, it helps to know what exactly insulin is. Insulin is a hormone. It is created and stored in the pancreas, and its major role is to regulate blood sugar levels.

Most foods are broken down into glucose. Take a look:

  • Simple carbohydrates – bread, pasta, cereals.
  • Complex carbohydrates – quinoa, brown rice, squash, legumes.
  • Fiber-rich foods – fruits, vegetables, peas, beans.
  • Desserts and sugary drinks – cake, ice cream, cookies, energy drinks, carbonated drinks.

Once the food has been broken down into glucose, insulin transports it directly to the liver and our muscles. Then, the glucose is stored there for later use as energy. Stored glucose is called glycogen.

This process is called insulin sensitivity, and is how the body should function.

What Is Insulin Resistance?

Insulin resistance occurs when the process described above does not happen as it is meant to. We develop insulin resistance when we eat too much sugar and too many carbs for our body to handle on a regular basis.

It is important to remember that every single body is unique, and each individual can process different amounts of sugar and carbohydrates.

When we regularly consume too much for our body to handle, we basically become desensitised to it.

Eventually, your body reaches a point where your liver and muscles can no longer keep up with the demand for glucose storage. They’re full. That’s when your pancreas comes into action and produces more insulin to help carry the load to try and help out. Unfortunately it doesn’t work because there is still nowhere to store the glucose!

This is when you end up with high blood glucose levels and excess insulin. The glucose is eventually stored as fat.

Carbohydrates Are Good

Carbohydrates are good for us. They are a great source of energy for our bodies’ needs. A balanced diet includes carbohydrates and sugars too. We are always allowed to enjoy these things!

It becomes a problem when we consume too much for our body, on a regular basis.

How To Reverse Insulin Resistance

Finally, the part we’ve been waiting for. It is possible to reverse insulin resistance.

Diet

First, reduce or eliminate sugary foods and simple carbohydrates, as described above. Then, include more healthy fats in your diet and and complex, slow burning carbohydrates. Here are some examples:

Healthy Fats:

  • Avocado
  • Eggs
  • Ghee and/or grass fed butter
  • Coconut oil and/or MCT oil
  • Olives and olive oil
  • Wild caught salmon
  • Seeds, nuts, and nut butters

Complex Carbohydrates:

  • Quinoa
  • Sweet potato
  • Squash
  • Correctly soaked or sprouted beans, peas, and legumes

Movement

We all know that exercise is vital to our overall health. Moving more will burn energy and speed up your metabolism.

If you spend a lot of time sitting (at work, on the sofa, driving), take dance breaks or go for small walks when you can. Also, go and try out that exercise class you’ve always wanted to try. Take up Yoga, swimming, or low-impact exercise if you do not exercise regularly.

Doing sustained exercise multiple times a week is what is needed to keep diabetes and diabetic symptoms under control.

Supplements

Colostrum

Colostrum has so many benefits, and it has been shown to reverse insulin resistance. It’s practically a miracle product and it has changed so many lives, including The Renegade Pharmacist’s life. That is why we sell our own Renegade Colostrum. We guarantee the highest quality bovine colostrum possible. Stir it into your drink and go. Simple.

Green juice

We like Organifi Green Juice the best. See why here.

Final Words

If you follow our guidelines, you should see that you can reverse insulin resistance within 30 days. Maybe even sooner! Consistency and dedication are key. Your health is in your hands.

However, you do not need to change every aspect of your life over night (unless you want to!). You can start with one or two dietary changes, one supplement (colostrum is the best one), and more movement, and then build up from there.

Often, insulin resistance can come with gut problems like leaky gut syndrome. Check out the symptoms of leaky gut syndrome here. If you recognise these symptoms, you can take part in our free Leaky Gut Protocol designed to help you beat optimal health.

A Quick Introduction to Natural Health

Are you looking to know more about natural health?

Natural health is a self-care system of natural therapy which can restore health and standard wellbeing of your body. It works with the innate or natural curative powers of your body.

Natural health

In other words, it is a holistic approach which deals with various issues.

This includes how you take care of your body when you’re ill, the food you eat, how you cope with pressure, and how you think about your general health.

Natural health professionals find the root causes of the symptoms so they can restore your health while maintaining proper balance by eliminating bad habits as well as the intake of unhealthy foods.

In this post, we will introduce some of the concepts of natural health to help you determine whether or not it is the right path for you.

Let’s begin.

What is Natural Health?

Natural health promotes your wellness while using natural solutions.

Sometimes in life we do things that we think are helping our bodies but end up harming it!

Take, for example, a person gulping down a bottle or two of energy drink after a race and going on with their day instead of getting some much-needed sleep to rest the body after such an exerting task.

You can incorporate natural health in your life in the following ways:

  • Eating a healthy, organic, and preferably plant-based diet
  • Participating in an exercise, meditation, and counseling
  • Stimulating the body structure using natural therapies such as acupuncture
  • Using nutritional plant-based supplements and herbs

Natural health means taking the bad out of your body including poisonous chemicals and foods, and bringing in the healthy and toxin-free choices.

Some Examples of the Natural Health Approach

With the natural health approach, you can find the root causes of certain health issues instead of looking at them in isolation over time.

Let’s take a look at a headache as an example.

We all get headaches and often we don’t think twice about popping a pain killer to make the pain go away.

Popping the pill helps alleviate the pain, and that’s it.

We get back to work.

However, we fail to take into consideration the cause of pain! The natural health approach encourages you to find out the root cause of the pain. You can get a headache for several reasons such as emotional stress, dehydration, or muscle tension.

In natural health, different causes of a headache come with different solutions.

Massage and counseling can cure a headache caused by stress. If you got a headache because of dehydration, taking enough water can help alleviate the pain. However, a critical problem, such as a migraine needs medical intervention.

Over the years, many people have believed natural health practices to be pseudoscientific. However, that isn’t true since natural health has received recognition from the National Institute of Health (NIH) – one of the world’s most outstanding medical research centers.

Why is Natural Health Becoming Increasingly Popular?

Natural health has been gaining popularity all of the world because of several reasons. Let’s take a look.

  • Natural health looks at the complete well being of your body, not at just the disease
  • There has always been a passionate desire among people to embrace medicine that comes from Mother nature
  • Natural health identifies the possible underlying cause of illness
  • Natural health care professionals place importance on quality time spent with patients

A Quick Peek at Natural Health and Physical Wellness

Since the beginning of time, staying alive has come down to survival of the fittest. This means survival is physically demanding.

However, humans in modern societies have spoilt their life as they’ve been living in their mind and have completely forgotten about the fact that they have a body to take care of! Many people work in an office operating the computer, reading, thinking with little to no physical labor.

Physical wellness is something that people may put on the back burner.

Most lifestyle diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure, hypertension, heart diseases, etc. are directly related to the lack of physical exercise.

So, exercise is an essential part of natural health as it increases your health in various domains and prevents your muscles from deteriorating. You need to do the following in your life to stay healthy:

  • Lead an active lifestyle
  • Spend time in nature
  • Eat a good diet
  • Listen to your body

Conclusion

Natural health is more than just physical wellness

You must have heard the phrase “You can’t out-exercise a bad diet” at least once, right?

Experts believe that this is a crucial aspect when maintaining a healthy body.

Natural health and physical exercise are both important. However, natural health imposes a significant impact on your body composition.

The natural health approach involves monitoring the food you eat, the way you respond to pressure, how you take care of your body, etc. and is capable of changing your body composition without taking part in physical exercise.

Engaging in physical wellness by exercise will be a waste of time without knowing about the concepts of natural health. Physical wellness often develops different parts of your body while the natural health approach takes care of your entire body.

Do you have any questions? Leave them in the comments, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible!

Brain Food – Increase Your Brain Power With Brain Food

What brain food should you eat to have better focus? To have a better memory? To have clearer thinking? Luckily, there are plenty of options readily available in your local grocery stores or food markets.

Brain food

Do you struggle with memory problems? Maybe you just can’t think clearly sometimes! Or, are you happy with your brain functioning and looking to improve it even further? This article will tell you:

  • Great brain food ideas that you can get ahold of easily.
  • Supplements you may consider adding into your routine for improved cognitive function.

Check out the world’s first open-source supplement company that specializes in optimizing brain function

Avocados

Not just for millenials at brunch! Eating this brain food regularly has been shown to increase your lutein production and improve cognitive function.

For a long time, lutein was hailed for contributing to our eye health, but there is growing evidence for the importance of lutein in brain functioning and even physical performance.

Blueberries

Blueberries have been used throughout history as a native and folk medicine in North America and they are full of antioxidants! Vaccinium flavonoids give us mental clarity and also have cancer fighting effects.

Keep your brain young and functioning at its peak by eating blueberries regularly. This brain food has also shown to reduce brain damage!

Broccoli

Broccoli contains selenium, which is maintained mostly in the brain. Selenium and selenoproteins have been shown to protect against brain diseases and neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinson’s, and increase neuronal cell longevity.

One way to measure the antioxidant capacity in a food is to measure something called an Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity (ORAC). Broccoli (and blueberries, turmeric, dark chocolate, and walnuts!) have some of the highest ORAC scores measured.

Coconut oil

It’s no wonder Ayurvedic traditions value the importance of coconut oil. It has many uses, but consuming this brain food on a regular basis provides your body with essential fatty acids that contribute to the maintenance of our brain health as we age.

Phospholipids like lecithin (which supplies choline) is also highly present in coconut oil, and plays an important role in brain functioning.

Eggs

Essential fatty acids are vital if we want to have optimal brain health, but our bodies cannot produce them naturally. That is why we should eat a diet high in Omega-3s and 6s. Eggs are a great source of essential fatty acids, vitamin-E, and choline.

Vitamin E prevents oxidative stress on the brain and protects the brain from neuronal cell death, meaning we can think sharper for longer!

Walnuts

When you open a walnut shell, what do you notice? Walnuts look like the brain! Just as when you slice a carrot into coins and the centre looks like an eye, some foods look like the body organ that they are nurturing.

Walnuts are good for the brain because they are an excellent source of essential fatty acids. Walnuts are neuroprotective, and maintain brain health with age.

Dark chocolate

A delicious brain food essential, dark chocolate – or more specifically, cacao – is great for your brain!

Cacao nibs or dark chocolate (think 80% cacao solids or more) are a super tasty way to improve your cognitive functioning.

High quality dark chocolate contains minerals like magnesium, potassium, iron, copper, and zinc. These minerals are all crucial for optimal brainy functions. Magnesium for memory, iron for blood health and bringing oxygen to the brain, copper and zinc for brain development.

Water!

We are mostly water. Same goes for our brains. If we aren’t consuming enough water by drinking water regularly and eating foods with a good water content, our brains will not function at optimum capacity.

Supplements

While it is always best to get our nutrition from a good balanced diet, you may choose to add to your supplement routine if you can’t access fresh produce on a regular basis. Perhaps you are on the road a lot and access to fresh food is limited. Maybe your blood tests show that you need a higher intake of certain nutrients. Whatever your reason, if you would like to supplement your diet with high quality brain food nutrients, check out our recommendations below.

Colostrum

There is an undeniable link between our gut health and our mental and cognitive functioning. Taking a colostrum supplement improves our gut health tenfold and has many benefits. Learn more about colostrum here.

Try our high quality Renegade Colostrum and feel the benefits for yourself!

MCT Oil

MCT stands for medium-chain triglyceride, which is a type of fat with medium-length chains. Due to their length, MCTs are easily digested by our bodies.

MCT oil is a superfuel because they can enter the cells in your body without being broken down.

MCTs can also be converted to ketones in the liver. Ketones can pass through the blood-brain barrier, increasing your cognitive functioning rapidly.

Check out Synchro for their high quality MCT Oil Powder – you can mix it into any drink you like!

High Quality Multivitamins and Minerals

A high quality multivitamin and mineral supplement is a great way to ensure you are getting your recommended daily intake (or a percentage of it) every day. For brain health, make sure your multivitamin contains a good amount of vitamin E and B-vitamins.

Our favourite place to buy supplements is Natural Stacks.

Natural Stacks provides super high-quality natural formulas to aid the body’s natural production of critical neurotransmitters like Dopamine, Serotonin, GABA, and BrainBiotics.

If you buy today, use the code RENEGADE15 at checkout for a discount on any Natural Stacks products!

Nootropics

Nootropics or “smart drugs” are gaining popularity amongst all types of people for their neuro-enhancing properties

Most nootropics work on two factors:

  • Increasing blood flow and nutrients to the brain
  • Balancing healthy brain chemistry

Check our article for more information on nootropics.

Conclusions

To maintain cognitive health and vitality, a diet high in nutrients sourced from fresh foods is the best route to take. If you choose, you can also supplement with high quality products to increase your brain function, gain mental clarity, and improve your memory.

What Makes a Good Breakfast Bar?

breakfast barIn this article, you’re going to discover why, if you live a busy lifestyle, a breakfast bar is a healthy and nutritious option for you to start your day right.

Including:

  • What makes a good breakfast.
  • Why not all breakfast bars are the same.
  • Where to find breakfast bars which fit all your nutritional needs.

Why You Should Eat Breakfast

According to the Harvard School of Public Health, skipping breakfast makes you more likely to suffer from obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and heart disease.

Eating breakfast also keeps you full and makes you less likely to eat more at the end of the day which means it helps you to both lose and maintain a healthy weight.

However, it’s important to eat a breakfast with the nutrients you need to give you energy and keep you going throughout the day.

If you live a hectic lifestyle, this can be a challenge. If you don’t have much time to prepare breakfast in the morning then a breakfast bar can be a great option.

You can eat it on your way to work and get the energy and nutrients you need to get through the morning and perform at your best.

However, not all breakfast bars are the same. Some, particularly cereal bars, contain excessive amounts of sugar which will spike your energy levels before making you crash and burn.

It also elevates your insulin to dangerous levels which can eventually lead to diabetes and heart disease, blindness, neuropathy, and kidney failure.

What Makes a Healthy Breakfast?

To understand what makes a good breakfast bar, you need to know what makes a healthy breakfast in general.

To have a healthy breakfast you need to make sure you’re eating the right combination of protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats. This will keep you satiated until lunch time and give you the energy you need to be sharp and perform at your full mental capacity.

Let’s run through each of the three.

Why You Need a Breakfast Bar with Enough Protein

The importance of eating protein in the morning was highlighted by a study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Researchers investigated the difference between eating protein versus carbs and skipping breakfast altogether.

They discovered a protein rich diet like meat and egg was the most effective in making participants feel full throughout the day. This is because protein lowers the levels of ghrelin, the hormone which is responsible for making you feel hungry.

So if you tend to snack before lunch, then you’re likely not eating enough protein for breakfast.

Why You Need a Protein Bar with Enough Carbs

It’s important to eat a breakfast bar with enough carbohydrates. However, the type of carbs you choose eat are important.  Complex carbohydrates that release energy slowly are the best type.

You need to make sure you get enough fiber as this will stop you from experiencing a surge in your glucose levels which will cause you to crash and burn, and then make you hungry again.

Fiber is also good for your colon and bowels giving you regular movements throughout the day.

Why You Need a Breakfast Bar with Healthy Fats

Another thing your breakfast bar should contain is enough healthy fats.

Eating healthy fats is vital for your brain and body which was shown by a study published in The Journal of Nutrition in 2018.

In the study, researchers investigated the link between high-fat breakfasts and chronic metabolic disease. The discovered a high-fat, low-carb breakfast can help you reduce your risk of developing high blood pressure and blood sugar levels, fat around your waist and abnormal cholesterol levels.

Studies show omega-3 fatty acids can also enhance your mood and keep depression at bay.

The Ideal Breakfast Bar

Not everyone has enough time to make scrambled eggs with toast or a fruit and veg smoothie in the morning. This means a breakfast bar with the right amounts of protein, carbs, and fats is the ideal solution.

A lot of the breakfast bars available today claim to have healthy ingredients like wholegrain cereals and milk. However, they often contain excessive amounts of added sugar.

A great option is the Kion Breakfast Bar. It contains the right ratio of protein, carbohydrates, and fats without the high sugar content. This means it will keep you full until lunch without being tempted to eat any fatty or sugary mid-morning snacks. So you can avoid the crash and burn many other breakfast bars would give you and also keep your waistline in check.

It’s made of natural ingredients from real foods like organic white chia seeds, sesame seeds, grass-fed gelatin, and cacao nibs. It also contains nutrients, amino acids, minerals, electrolytes and antioxidants.

What’s more, it has a chocolatey-salty-coconut flavor so it’s a great option to satisfy your sweet tooth without any unhealthy sweeteners.

You can also eat it during the day if you need something to pick you up.

Jackfruit seeds

It seems like jackfruit is the fruit that keeps on giving. If you aren’t already familiar with the many benefits that the delicious flesh of this exotic fruit boasts, take a look right now. And there’s more! Jackfruit seeds are really useful. They are not only edible, high in nutrients, and (most importantly) delicious, but they serve more purposes too. It can be easy to discard the seeds in fruit without a second thought, but before you throw away your jackfruit seeds, read this article.

Enhance Sexual Performance

In Chinese medicine, jackfruit seeds treat sexual disorders and are said to have aphrodisiac qualities. They are a source of nutrients like potassium, calcium, and iron, and they’re also a great source of protein. All of these help with premature ejaculation, boost your libido, and prevent erectile dysfunction.

Jackfruit seeds are Protein Rich

Jackfruit seeds contain 9 essential amino acids, including lysine, which is often considered elusive in vegan protein sources. We can’t advocate jackfruit seeds as a replacement for other sources of protein, but they do make a great additional protein source. You can add the seeds to curries, or…

Jackfruit seed Hummus

Try this simple alternative hummus recipe:

1 cup boiled jackfruit seeds

2 teaspoon tahini

Juice of a whole lemon

Small bunch of coriander

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon chilli powder or paprika

Up to 1½ cups of water (added gradually)

¼ extra virgin olive oil

Place all ingredients in a blender (except the water) and blend until smooth. Add the water gradually, until the mixture reaches the consistency you want [source].

Give yourself Youthful Skin

You can make a simple face masking using just three ingredients: jackfruit seeds, milk, and honey. First, roughly chop the seeds and soak them in the milk. When the seeds have had time to soften, grind the mixture into a paste and add the honey. Apply this paste evenly to your face, and then let it dry. When you rinse it off with warm water, your skin will be radiant and smooth!

Jackfruit seeds are Talismans

In Thailand, these humble seeds are actually considered powerful talismans that protect the owner from misfortune thanks to their copper colour. While in Thailand you may notice some seeds have been left as an offering at the foot Buddha statues. Now you know why.

Jackfruit seeds are… Poisonous?!

There is a chance that consuming uncooked jackfruit seeds in large quantities could be toxic. Therefore, please ensure that you cook your seeds thoroughly, so you can rest assured that you will be doing no harm to your body.

To cook:

Boil for 30 minutes in water

Roast at 200°C/400°F for 20 minutes

Jackfruit Benefits – 11 Jackfruit Benefits You Need to Know

Jackfruit is a really versatile fruit that originates from South India. It grows in tropical and subtropical areas like Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and even Florida. Part of the Moracae genus (think figs and mulberries), jackfruit is the largest tree fruit in the world. It can grow up to 35kg in weight and 35 inches in length! It has a rough outer skin, which can be green or yellow in colour. Jackfruit contains almost every vitamin and mineral you could need, so it’s no wonder it is gaining popularity in Western countries. This article will show you 11 incredible jackfruit benefits that you simply need to know.

jackfruit benefits

Jackfruit benefits bowel health [1,2]

Jackfruit contains two types of dietary fibre: soluble and insoluble. Insoluble fibre passes through your intestinal tract, adding bulk to your stool, helping you to eliminate waste. Insoluble fibre also allows you to eliminate waste faster. The less time that waste spends in the intestinal tracts, the less chance there is of developing colon cancer [3]. Moreover, while research in this area is limited, dietary fibre may also have a positive impact on cognition and mood due to its role in regulating systemic inflammation, depression, and anxiety [4].

Jackfruit benefits your cardiovascular system

Jackfruit has a good potassium content, so it can be beneficial in lowering blood pressure. This helps in preventing heart disease and strokes. Potassium improves muscle and nerve function. Another heart-friendly function of jackfruit is that it is a source of vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 reduces homocysteine levels in the blood, thus lowering the risk of heart disease [5].

Jackfruit benefits your eyesight

Jackfruit contains a generous amount of Vitamin A and carotenoid antioxidants like lutein [1], which are essential in maintaining eye health by keeping the retina and optic nerve intact. Vitamin A also protects the mucous membrane of the cornea, which acts as a barrier against bacteria [6].

Jackfruit has anti-inflammatory properties

Jackfruit contains phenolic compounds and phytochemicals [7], which demonstrate anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties. These compounds may be used to create treatments for inflammation-related diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and Parkinson’s disease [8]. These properties also act to regulate inflammatory reactions on the skin such as acne [9].

Jackfruit benefits your youthful appearance

Jackfruit is an excellent source of Vitamin C, which is necessary in the production of collagen, the protein that keeps skin strong and supple [2]. Jackfruit also contains antioxidants, flavonoids, potassium, magnesium, selenium, and zinc [1], therefore could be highly beneficial in aiding skin repair and reducing acne inflammation. Thanks to jackfruit’s high water content, you can enjoy the benefits of hydrated, smooth skin. Thanks to the anti-inflammatory properties above, jackfruit could also aid in the healing process of wounds and burns [9].

Jackfruit benefits bone health

Jackfruit provides an abundance of magnesium, which aids in the absorption of calcium in the body [2]. When you absorb calcium efficiently, your bones become stronger and you are more resistant to bone-related disorders such as osteoporosis. While jackfruit provides some calcium, there are better sources like leafy greens [10]. Therefore, combine leafy greens with jackfruit in your meals for increased calcium absorption.

Jackfruit benefits blood quality

Jackfruit contains iron [1]. Iron is vital for healthy blood and to avoid conditions like anaemia. The vitamin C content of jackfruit aids in iron absorption in the body. Therefore, combine leafy greens with jackfruit to give yourself a good dose of iron [11].

Jackfruit benefits free-radical and toxin elimination

Toxins and free-radicals are widely known to cause cancer in the body [12]. Jackfruit provides the body with antioxidants, phytonutrients, and flavonoids that destroy free-radicals and expel toxins from the body. The vitamin C content of jackfruit also reduces inflammation that could lead to diseases like cancer [1].

Jackfruit benefits hormonal functioning

Jackfruit is a great source of copper and niacin (vitamin B3), which helps thyroid metabolism, nerve function and hormone production [2].

Jackfruit benefits diabetic symptoms

Glycemic Index (GI) is a measure of how quickly our blood sugar levels rise after eating. Jackfruit has a low glycemic index (GI) due to the high fibre content of the fruit: slower digestion helps prevent blood sugar spikes [13].

In a 1991 study, diabetic and non-diabetic adults who consumed jackfruit were found to have significantly improved blood sugar levels [5]. This is thanks to flavonoid antioxidants found in jackfruit, which are known to promote blood sugar stability [5,14].

Jackfruit contains 11 amino acids [2]

Jackfruit does not provide a complete protein in itself, but it is a good source of the 9 essential amino acids [15] including lysine, which is considered elusive in a vegan diet. This means jackfruit benefits a vegan diet hugely.

Jackfruit also contains two more conditional amino acids: tyrosine and cysteine. Conditional amino acids are not vital, but are considered greatly helpful in times of illness or stress [15], so incorporating jackfruit to your diet can help you fight off colds and flu, and help your body to recover from stress factors.

With all of these jackfruit benefits considered, you may want to start eating this nutritional powerhouse every day! This article has been all about the sweet fleshy part of the jackfruit, but did you know that you can also eat the seeds?! Check out our article on jackfruit seeds now!

Colostrum powder is an important and necessary healthy food supplement for all. Many colostrum powder and similar products are available on the market with growth in popularity. However, there is quite a bit of conflicting and misleading information about colostrum powder on the internet.

That’s why we’ve decided to define which elements and substances are the most vital when choosing the most effective colostrum powder for you. In this article you will find:

  1. What is Colostrum powder
  2. How to identify the good Colostrum
  3. Where to buy high-quality Colostrum at a great price

What is colostrum powder?

Traditional protein (whey) is found in poultry, meat, and eggs. The whey protein, or powder form, is extracted from several different sources.

Colostrum powder extract follows a similar type of process, but the powder is extracted from a completely different source. In fact, colostrum comes from a pre-milk fluid that cows produce and it has many health benefits.

High-Quality colostrum powder is effective for increasing energy levels, in addition to the muscle-building and fat loss properties. There are many types of colostrum powders are available in the market, but of course, it’s never been easy to define the word “best” among them.

There are different kinds of consumers with different choices and look for certain things in their products. Generally, there are specific traits the most effective colostrum powder supplements should possess. Below, we’ll go through what you should consider when you want to choose a good quality colostrum powder supplement.

What to look for in a good colostrum powder supplement

To get an idea of the various colostrum supplements available on the market, we researched health-food stores, did some googling online and checked some alternative pharmacies.

We ended up sampling ten popular brands and were really surprised by the diversity, in terms of how these colostrum powders smelled, looked, felt and tasted. Some products were in lozenges, some in the powder form and some of them were in capsules.

After investigating and sampling the selection we narrowed down on, we talk about our findings and conclude what you should look for and what to avoid when purchasing a colostrum supplement.

High-quality whole-fat colostrum powder

The fat content of colostrum supplements is very important. Essential fatty acids and beta-lipids are found naturally in colostrum products.

But why do few manufacturers take these vitamins out and add them later?

Some manufacturers skim colostrum so they can sell the fat-soluble ingredients and other fat-soluble vitamins separately, just to increase their profits.

The temptation of generating more profitability from selling these (fat-soluble) ingredients in colostrum has led to unnecessary manufacturing of low-quality colostrum brand supplement options.

This resulted in some producers even selling “skimmed” colostrum and calling it “immunoglobulin-concentrate” or “high protein colostrum”.

However, this “skimmed” version is false marketing and doesn’t make much sense since as we mentioned above, the fat content is what provides the necessary amino acids and fat-soluble vitamins.

If you completely remove the fat from a product, you remove almost 35% of growth factor-I (insulin), one of the most essential growth factors in your colostrum.

At Renegade we feel it’s not fair to sell or offer such kinds of products to customers.

How do you know if the fat of the colostrum has been removed or taken out? Well, you can look at the product labels (supplement facts). Some colostrum powders list zero fat.

This can be an appealing gimmick for marketing in the geography that suffers from regular fatphobia. However, it is an indication of an inferior quality product.

Low sugar and calories

It is somewhat impossible to find anyone who is searching for colostrum powder in the market who wants to ingest any kind of unhealthy ingredients or gain weight. Low-grade and inferior products flood everywhere with cheap ingredients and equally cheaper prices. The sugar (refined) would be a less-than-preferable component.

Sugar could increase the taste of it, but you cannot say it’s a better colostrum powder. This added sugar would make a bad product for your health. Sugar is low in nutritional value and high in calories. It’s quite difficult to burn excess sugar. In fact, the extra sugar turns to unwarranted fat. So, you should seek a low-sugar, low-carb brand instead.

Choose the right flavor

Mixing up colostrum powder with milk or water is fine. The powder will be absorbed into the body blending in with the liquids without any problems. However, is it a great way to ingest colostrum powder supplements?

Well, not indeed. You need to take into consideration the taste and flavor a lot. Good colostrum powder should have an amazing taste. A great variety of flavors wouldn’t make any difference either. In fact, traditional chocolate and vanilla -flavored colostrum can turn almond/soy or dairy milk into a fine meal or snack replacement. You can turn water into a nice beverage with orange flavor colostrum.

Some people love to enjoy drinking something actually bland. The product that has a good taste
is probably different for each customer.

Efficient assimilation into the production system

Taste is a single element when purchasing a renowned colostrum powder brand. Its effectiveness should always be counted as the main attribute. For example, high-quality colostrum powder helps repair muscles like proteins do. To make sure you get all the benefits from your supplement, make sure you research its effectiveness.

Effectiveness means the body’s ability to process the colostrum powder, assimilate and absorb it. High-quality colostrum powder, with better ingredients, are absorbed perfectly by the body. It gives maximum results as the body reflects a superior outcome for taking the supplement. The best quality colostrum powder must be made with natural, excellent ingredients that support smooth, consistent absorption by your system.

Avoid filtrated products

Filtration can be done for specific compounds, but you risk many key ingredients being left out. If you’ve filtrated out components such as immunoglobulins, for example, you’re limiting vital immune components like minerals, vitamins, growth factors, and other essential constituents found in the colostrum supplement.

The price is right

Price is also an important factor for a high-quality colostrum powder. It must be affordable, but the cheapest one will never be the best one. A high-quality colostrum powder that delivers the best scoops with a reasonable price, could be a perfect deal for you.

Renegade Colostrum Powder

It’s not uncommon for manufacturers to claim that colostrum can “boost immunity” or “enhance performance”.

However, I would suggest any supplement that claims to be curative or alleviate symptoms of a disease should always be approached with extreme skepticism. Always do your homework and never rely on one thing to fix all.

After all, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Almost a decade ago, I suffered from Ulcerative Colitis. After two years of being housebound, depressed and facing the possibility of having my colon removed, I was given no choice but to turn my attention towards holistic healing.

It was when I took care of my diet and emotional state that I slowly started feeling better. However, my healing accelerated exponentially when I discovered Colostrum. Literally in a matter of days, I noticed a big difference.

After my recovery, I took it upon my mission to help out my community. Now, many years and thousands of success stories later, we’ve actually created our own brand of Renegade Colostrum Powder where we make sure that it follows all the elements that we’ve outlined in this article.

Read what others have said about the Renegade Colostrum and try it out yourself.

All the best!

cbd benefits

Cannabis has been used for treating pain and other health conditions for thousands of years. Studies today are showing why as one of cannabis’ main compounds, CBD, has been proven to treat various diseases.

Short for cannabidiol, CBD is an essential component of marijuana.  It is one of the many cannaboids that exists, and the most highly researched.

Thanks to its low toxicity and benign side effects, CBD oil could be the solution to our over reliance on prescription drugs.

Before you discover how fears CBD oil can get you high or increase your hunger are unfounded, and how it works harmoniously with your body and is safe to consume, let’s run through the exciting benefits it gives you.

CBD Benefits For Epilepsy Sufferers

For those suffering from refractory epilepsy, which is uncontrolled or drug-resistant epilepsy, life is a constant battle.

In the United States alone, there are over 16 million epilepsy sufferers whose conditions has been hopeless. No prescription drug has enabled them to effectively manage their neurological disorder.

However, they have hope after a 2017 study called Cannabidiol: its use in refractory epilepsies. In the study, researchers highlighted the successful use of CBD as a therapy on patients whose seizures had been non-responsive to prior treatments.

A group of 15 patients were given CBD for a period from one month to a year. Thanks to the CBD therapy, whereas their prescription drugs had no effect, the frequency of seizures disappeared completely in 27% of patients. Seizures decreased in 40% of patients, and 60% of them said they could control 50% of their seizures.

They also experienced improvements in behavior, language, sleep, and eating habits. As well as witnessing an improvement in their mood after consuming CBD.

Similar findings were reported on a study carried out on children suffering with Dravet Syndrome.

A rare genetic epileptic neurological disorder, Dravet Syndrome can cause developmental disabilities which severely impacts children’s quality of life. Like those suffering from refractory epilepsies, traditional medications and treatments are only able to minimize the symptoms, if have any effect at all.

They carried out the study on 120 children and young adults with Dravet syndrome and drug-resistant seizures. In the double blind study, participants received either a daily dose of CBD oral solution or a placebo over a 14-week period.

Researchers found the CBD-treated convulsive seizures almost halved from 12.4 to 5.9 percentage points. And 5% of them saw their seizures disappear altogether. Whereas those taking the placebo experienced a decrease of only 0.8% in their seizures.

CBD Benefits For Extreme Stress and Anxiety

Over 25 million people in the U.S. alone will suffer from PTSD at least once during their lifetime. A study carried out last year investigated how CBD may reduce the fear response in sufferers. The results showed CBD benefits can play an important role in helping sufferers manage their condition.

In the study, researchers gave 277 Wistar rats a small electric shock followed immediately by dose of CBD. When later brought back to the context of the fearful event, the CBD-treated rats were more relaxed than those who hadn’t received treatment. The CBD lessened the formation of their specific and long-term memory of the electric shock.

In another study, researchers examined the effects of CBD on those suffering from panic disorder. A condition which affects approximately 6 million adults in the U.S. alone.

They explored the findings from previous studies, like anxiety in public speaking and electrical stimulation in animal subjects. They found CBD benefits to be a promising potential treatment for panic disorders.

The researchers concluded CBD isn’t habit-forming and could be a solid alternative for “high potency benzodiazepines and antidepressant drugs in PD patients who are resistant to the current treatments.”

This is great news for sufferers of panic and anxiety conditions who rely on psychiatric medications to manage their symptoms.

What’s more, studies show that sufferers from anxiety and depression can also from CBD benefits in other ways. It won’t come as a surprise, studies have found taking CBD before bed can improve sleep in those with insomnia.

CBD Benefits For Your Skin

A study has revealed CBD benefits include anti-inflammatory effect on sebaceous glands. This means it has potential to treat acne vulgaris.

Likewise, in a similar study they found CBD can treat psoriasis as it reduces the growth of skin cells.

CBD benefits For High Blood Pressure

A 2017 study found CBD can reduce resting systolic blood pressure and stroke volume.

In the study, nine healthy male participants received either 600 mg of CBD or a placebo. Researchers witnessed a reduction in blood pressure when testing participants stress levels.

This means, along with changes in diet and lifestyle, CBD could fight high blood pressure.

CBD Benefits For Chronic Pain

People suffering from chronic pain often become over-dependent on their medications. A study in 2017, tried to solve this by finding an alternative to opioid based-medications.

Researchers surveyed 2,897 cannabis-users who had been using an opioid medication for pain in the last six months.

They found 97% of them were able to decrease the amount of opiates they consumed when they also consumed cannabis.

And a staggering 81% of them said they were more successful in treating their condition by consuming just cannabis and not combining it with opioids.

Although this survey wasn’t specifically about CBD benefits, it showed how, not only is cannabis effective on its own… it can also aid and decrease sufferers current use of opioids without the unwanted side effects.

CBD Benefits Oil For Rheumatoid Arthritis Sufferers

A study has found the anti-inflammatory properties in cannabinoids may ease  joint pain and swelling. This is exciting news for sufferers of arthritis as it means it has the potential to treat the progression of their disease.

In another study in animal models, researchers revealed CBD can protect joints against severe damage, decreased progression, and improve symptoms of arthritis.

And the first controlled trial of the cannabis-based medicine Sativex showed exciting results. Researchers gave subjects the medicine over a 5-week period. They witnessed great reductions in pain intensity when moving and resting, as well as with their quality of sleep, and inflammation.

And without the adverse effects of prescription drugs.

CBD Benefits For Sufferers of IBD

Sufferers of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) are able to manage their conditions, however, as researchers have highlighted, the medicines they take have limited benefits and become less effective over time.

Researchers have investigated if targeting the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) could improve colitis. They discovered manipulating the ECS with the consumption of CBD can provide substantial relief from colitis.

CBD Benefits For Recovering Alcoholics

Alcohol consumption is one of the main causes of liver disease worldwide. In this study, researchers gave CBD to mice which had received alcohol to investigate the impact on liver injuries caused by chronic and binge alcohol consumption.

They discovered CBD reduced both the elevated liver enzymes and liver triglyceride, as well as the fat droplet accumulation. This lead researchers to note CBD could be used as a potential treatment for alcoholic liver diseases, stating:

“associated with inflammation, oxidative stress and steatosis.”

CBD Benefits For People Recovering from a Stroke

Arterial Ischemic Stroke is where the arteries to the brain become narrow or form a clot. In newborn babies this is called Neonatal Arterial Ischemic Stroke. It can lead to lifelong disabilities and even brain injury as there is no effective treatment for these conditions.

However, a study on neonatal Wistar rats who had induced artery blockage showed CBD treatment led to “long-term functional recovery.”

Although researchers need to carry out more tests, results so far show CBD may reduce brain damage and improve recovery in sufferers of Arterial Ischemic Stroke.

CBD Benefits For Fighting Cancer

Researchers from a 2012 review stated “evidence is emerging to suggest that CBD is a potent inhibitor of both cancer growth and spread” after they discovered CBD displayed “pro‐apoptotic and anti‐proliferative actions” in different types of tumors.

Studies investigating the in vitro effects of CBD on cancer cells have also shown promising results. For example, a 2014 study showed CBD inhibited the growth of prostate cancer cells.

Researchers found similar results in 2004 when they studied the effect of CBD on glioma cells.

And other studies have shown similar findings on melanoma cells in 2013, bladder cancer cells in 2010, and in 2007 where researchers found CBD could reduce the expression of the ld-1 gene in aggressive human breast cancer cells.

Findings also suggests CBD can inhibit the spreading of lung and colon cancer.

CBD Benefits For Your Brain

Glutamate toxicity, where the neurotransmitter glutamate is chronically overstimulated, causes neurodegenerative diseases like Huntington’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.

Research has revealed CBD acts as a neuroprotective agent and glutamate inhibitor.

And a 2014 study revealed CBD can help treat cognitive deficits caused by Alzheimer’s disease.

Researchers gave mice, which had been genetically coded with Alzheimer’s disease, CBD every day for 6 months and discovered it hindered neuroinflammatory processes.

Compared to the control group, the mice who had received CBD didn’t develop poor facial recognition or experience social withdrawal, which are two typical signs of Alzheimer’s disease.

CBD Benefits Oil for Diabetics

In a 2006 study, researchers investigated the effect of CBD on the incidence of diabetes in non-obese diabetic mice. They discovered CBD lowered the incidence of mice becoming diabetic as the rate of diabetes in non-treated mice was 86% compared to a rate of 30% in mice treated with CBD.

The study also revealed CBD reduced the plasma levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, as well as reduced instances of insulitis.

Can CBD Oil Get You High?

A lot of people assume CBD benefits include getting you high. However, CBD doesn’t give you the same effect as smoking marijuana or cannabis.

The reason for the confusion is because Delta9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the primary psychoactive component in cannabis. Because there is a close association in people’s minds between CBD and THC, a lot of people have a negative reaction towards consuming CBD for medical reasons.

This confusion was made worse by the blatant misinterpretations of two previous studies on the subject.

In the first study, CBD was mixed with a petri-dish simulation of stomach acids. The results were interpreted as concluding CBD converts to THC, and so can get you high when it mixes with your stomach acid.

In the second study, it was suggested CBD can convert to THC when taken orally by human volunteers.

Researchers Set the Record Straight

However, a later study discovered the results of these studies were misinterpreted.

Researchers revealed although CBD may convert to THC under certain simulated acidic conditions, this has never proven to be the case in living organisms.

Researcher Gerhard Nahler remarked:

“People overlook quite frequently that “in vitro” results may differ significantly from conditions “in vivo”, particularly in man. In vitro results are suggestions, not proofs for processes in real life.”

What’s more, the results of the second test were taken out of context as only extremely minimal traces of THC were found in the human volunteers. And no traces of THC were found in their urine samples.

Commenting afterwards, the researchers stated the previous tests:

“have caused much confusion and uncertainty whether oral cannabidiol (CBD) is safe and whether subjects who are treated with CBD run the risk of positive workplace tests [for THC].”

They continued:

“Over 40 years of research on CBD does not suggest a conversion of CBD to delta9-THC and/or other cannabinoids in vivo after oral administration.”

The study highlighted the fact the main difference between CBD and THC is the inability for CBD to bind to a person’s cannabinoid brain receptors.

Hence, the researchers debunked the notion CBD is a psychoactive compound which gets you high.

These findings have also been backed up by a report from the World Health Organization which stated:

“In humans, CBD benefits exhibit no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”

A study has also shown, unlike marijuana and cannabis, CBD doesn’t give you hunger pangs, or the ¨munchies,¨ when you consume it.

Researchers found, while it increased their desire to eat, it didn’t have any effect on the subjects’ consumption of food.

How CBD Benefits Your Body

CBD works harmoniously with your body. This is because your body already produces certain cannabinoids in what’s known as your endocannabinoid system which are similar to CBD (cannabidiol) or THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).

To understand how CBD affects your body, you first need to know how the endocannabinoid system is made of two types of receptors – CB1, which are mostly located in the brain, as well as in the nerve endings, and CB2, which are found in the immune system and in tissues of the spleen and tonsils.

In the words of Stormy Simon, a champion of the cannabis industry:

“CB1 receptors in the brain are associated with emotions, moods, appetite, coordination, movement, and pain…

She continued…

“Think of [the endocannabinoid system] as a bridge between body and mind with its interactions throughout our internal systems.”

Research has shown although your body can produce cannabinoids, getting more cannabinoids from cannabis or CBD oil can help give you a healthier functioning endocannabinoid system.

CBD Oil Is Safe to Use

Let me start by putting any fears you may have about consuming CBD to rest.

They found the only side effects you may suffer after taking CBD are tiredness, diarrhea, and changes in your appetite or weight.

This means CBD benefits include fewer side-effects than prescription medication.

So, not only are there medical benefits to consuming it, patients are also able to take it for a longer time. This means they have a better chance of following their treatment plans more successfully.
